For those people who prefer a high energy approach, Power Yoga may be the approach for you. Also known as Dynamic Yoga or Astanga Vinyasa yoga, this is the closest that you will get to aerobic yoga -
you will sweat - a lot!. It demands regular commitment of up to 2 hours every day if you can. As you gradually learn the sequence of moves to each breath in and out you will gain strength, stamina and focus.
Ultimately, like any other path of yoga, this will lead to an inner stillness and gradual enlightenment - the spiritual path of yoga. This yoga is not for the faint-hearted and I recommend you find a qualified teacher to guide you through, although if you are already a regular yogi, you ought to be able to learn from the book.

By Beryl Bender Birch
Tens of thousands of athletes know Beryl Bender Birch, Wellness Director for the New York Road Runners Club, as the teacher who showed them that yoga could protect them from injuries and improve their athletic performance. In Power Yoga, the first book on astanga yoga, a unique form of hatha yoga designed to build strength and stamina, Birch brings the ancient spiritual and physical practice to the West. Through anecdotes, detailed instructions, and hundreds of illustrations, Birch provides a total workout plan that's perfect for elite athletes, weekend warriors, and people just starting a fitness program. The Power Yoga workout combines dynamic breathing with a series of strong, flowing movements that create a high-heat, high-energy workout. "It (Power Yoga) will work on your body, your mind, your whole self," says Birch. The end result is a stronger, more flexible body; increased endurance, discipline, and self-awareness; and better overall health and fitness. -- Ellen Albertson

You're no idiot, of course. You know that nearly everyone in America is doing yoga--including Madonna and Oprah--and that it is said to reduce stress better than virtually any other activity. But when it comes to finding the time and energy for a yoga session and getting a much-needed aerobic workout, you'd rather meditate in front of the TV. Don't vegetate--invigorate! The Complete Idiot's Guide to Power Yoga, by master yogi Geo Takoma, combines the healing poses and stretches of traditional yoga with an exhilarating workout that requires as little as 20 minutes a day.
